"Space Mining The High Frontier" is an upcoming conference taking place on July 28, 2021 (5 pm - 8 pm, BST) in which SpaceTech Analytics business development consultant Rand Simberg and speakers from the space-mining industry will discuss the opportunities presented by the rapidly emerging interest in in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) – as a key part of expanding human presence in space and in generating economic benefit both off planet and terrestrial, from space activities. Speakers will also address the need to conduct space-resource utilization in a sustainable manner to allow healthy growth of the off-world economy.

Her goals are solving humanities greatest challenges by developing all the science, systems, tools, technologies, methods, and knowledge needed to build self-sustaining and prosperous human communities beyond the Earth - even as we apply those tools and knowledge to protect Earth.
Ilaria Cinelli
Member of the Aerospace Medical Council, Aerospace Medical Association
Ilaria Cinelli Eng. PhD FAsMA is a senior engineer with records of biomedical engineering and space exploration accomplishments. Her work experiences are biomedical engineering, human factors, mission design, analogue missions and space medicine. Ilaria has a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pisa (Italy) and a structured PhD in Neural Engineering from the National University of Ireland Galway (Republic of Ireland). She is also a graduate of the Space Studies Program run by the International Space University at TU Delft (The Netherlands). More recently, she has completed a Postdoc at Tufts University (USA) in Neuromodulation. Ilaria is a Fellow of the Aerospace Medical Association, Past-President of the Aerospace Human Factors Association, Member-at-Large of the Aerospace Medical Council, and an invited member of The Mars Society Steering Committee.
Paul Kamoun

Paul is responsible for SpacePharma business development and commercialization activities
worldwide in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, biotechnology and medical sectors, and supports SPRD’s
CTO in the technological development strategy. He holds an electrical engineering degree from ‘Ecole
Supérieure d’Electricité’ in Paris, France, and a PhD in Earth and Planetary Sciences from the
Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, USA. He has more than forty years of
experience in the Space domain, having worked on more than 150 space programs of NASA,
European Space Agency (ESA), French Space Agency (CNES), and ASI (Italian Space Agency), as
Head of Advanced Projects, overseeing new developments in Earth observation, Planetary Science,
Astronomy, Fundamental Physics and Telecommunications. He became later Vice-President for
European Business at TAS, the leading European company in the development of satellite systems. He
has also been an expert evaluator in the European Union R&D Framework Programs and was later
part of the Space Advisory Committee of FP 7 and of H2020 for the definition of the EU Space
Program.
Marsh Cuttino
ZeroG Flight Surgeon
The microgravity of parabolic flight has been experienced by more than 15,000 people. Parabolic flight has been used for research, training, and tourism. This talk will discuss the medicine surrounding parabolic flight, from motion sickness to the types of medical research that can be performed. Dr. Cuttino has been doing parabolic flight for over 20 years, and will discuss insights and lessons learned dealing with people in microgravity. He is currently the flight surgeon for ZeroG.
Liz Warren
Senior Program Director, International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory
Liz Warren, Ph.D. is a Senior Program Director for the International Space Station U.S. National Laboratory. She has been involved in spaceflight research for over 25 years.
Dr. Warren was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, and attended the University of California at Davis for both her undergraduate and doctoral degrees in Molecular, Cellular, and Integrative physiology. For her doctoral work, she investigated the effects of gravity as a continuum on energy balance in rats. She completed post-doctoral work in cancer biology at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Laboratory of Cell Growth, and in the Neuroscience Laboratory at NASA’s Jonson Space Center. She has performed a variety of roles at NASA, including serving as Deputy Project Scientist for the NASA Bed Rest and Artificial Gravity Projects. Dr. Warren also spent several years as an Operations Lead in Mission Control for the ISS Medical Project. Liz is a passionate science communicator and an advocate for human spaceflight and STEM.
Jennifer Fogarty
NASA Human Research Program Chief Scientist
Jennifer Fogarty, PhD is the NASA Human Research Program (HRP) Chief Scientist. As HRP Chief Scientist, Fogarty works with the HRP Elements on the development and oversight of the research portfolio addressing the diverse human system risks that need to be characterized and mitigated to enable human exploration of space. This role requires communication and collaboration with current flight Programs, International Partners, as well as developmental spaceflight Programs that will be implementing risk reduction strategies based HRP research and risk mitigation strategies. In addition, Fogarty establishes and maintains relationships and collaborations with external institutions and other government agencies to assess fundamental mechanistic discoveries as well as innovative prevention and treatment strategies.
Shawna Pandya
Director of Medical Research at the Orbital Assembly Corporation
Dr. Shawna Pandya is a physician, scientist-astronaut candidate with Project PoSSUM, aquanaut, speaker, martial artist, advanced diver, skydiver, pilot-in-training, VP Immersive Medicine with Luxsonic Technologies, Director of Medical Research at Orbital Assembly Construction, and Fellow of the Explorers’ Club. She is also Director of the International Institute of Astronautical Sciences (IIAS)/PoSSUM Space Medicine Group, Chief Instructor of the IIAS/PoSSUM Operational Space Medicine course, clinical lecturer at the University of Alberta, podcast host with the World Extreme Medicine’s WEMCast series, Primary Investigator (PI) for the Shad Canada-Blue Origin student microgravity competition, member of the ASCEND 2021 Guiding Coalition, and Life Sciences Team Lead for the Association of Spaceflight Professionals. She serves as medical advisor to several space, medical and technology companies. Dr. Pandya was part of the first crew to test a commercial spacesuit in zero-gravity in 2015.

Marc is a Senior Associate Program Scientist with the International Space Station (ISS) U.S. National Laboratory. Part of his activities in this role include managing the Chips in Space programs cosponsored by the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences and National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering as well as the Tissue Engineering and Mechanobiology in Space Programs cosponsored by the National Science Foundation. Prior to joining the ISS National Lab Marc spent 20+ years working in early drug discovery efforts at the Torrey Pines Institute for Molecular Studies. He received his BS in Chemistry/Biochemistry from UCSD, his MBA from SDSU and his PhD in Chemistry from USF.

Jim Keravala
CEO and Chief Architect, OffWorld
Jim is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of OffWorld, building an industrial robotic workforce to undertake mining, manufacturing and construction on planetary surfaces and in space. The robotic workforce forms a solar system platform that will enable the construction of space based solar power stations, propellant depots and entire settlements. He brings 30 years of experience and visionary leadership in innovation in multidisciplinary areas such as aerospace engineering, space systems, robotics and machine intelligence, manufacturing and construction, computer science, synthetic biology and molecularly precise control systems. Jim is a prolific technologist and an accomplished entrepreneur able to constantly identify new acceleration ramps in the technological landscape.
Jim started his career in the space launch industry managing launch programs overseeing over a dozen successful orbital launches on Russian, European and US launch vehicles. Modular satellite design, integration engineering and program management were part of this process.
Jim also architected major space programs including new space agencies and launches at Surrey Satellite Technology and as cofounder of Shackleton Energy, space propellant depots utilizing requiring lunar mining and a continuous supply of fuel in space. Jim studied aerospace engineering, spacecraft engineering and physics at University of London, Surrey University, Aachen Technical University and International Space University, was previously faculty at Singularity University and is on advisory boards and Board of Directors of a number of space institutes including Board Member of the National Space Society.
Dr. Arkadi Prokopov
Integrative Medicine Physician and CEO of Athletic HighTech S.L.
Dr. Arkadi Prokopov is biogerontologist, mitochondrial researcher and physician for integrative medicine with three decades of experience in normobaric intermittent hypoxic training/therapy.
He also has a great deal of history in spacetech and space medicine in particular, having graduated from the Moscow Medical Academy (1st. MMA) in 1979, and from 1980 to 1991 working in the Moscow Institute of Biomedical Problems as a medical researcher and diving physician. His dissertation topic was: "Application of pharmacological agents and preconditioning interventions to increase performance and augment stress-resistance in saturation divers".
The main practical results of his work turned out to be useful not only in divers and cosmonauts, but also in preventative medicine in general and in rehab medicine in particular. In 1994 Arkadi moved to Germany, and practiced general and integrative medicine there, using the knowledge and experience gained in his research. From 2000 to 2005 he was working in the US company that manufactured equipment for simulated altitude training. Since 2008 he lives and works in Mallorca, Spain.
